| "The Finest Quality Cold Cuts and Salads" Home of the "Overstuffed" Sandwich Gershon's, the Capital District's oldest kosher-style deli, was opened by Irv and Lena Gershon in 1954; the original location was directly across the street from the present site. The current locale, 1600 Union Street, debuted in 1956. As time passed, Irv and Lena responded to their customers' demands and developed a thriving catering service, eventually selling the deli to their nephew Bob Lessner in 1973. He in turn sold to Lou and Tony in 1985. They have carried out the original mission of the founders- fresh food, freshly prepared daily, and courteously served. Lena Gershon's original recipes still prevail and continue to delight through the decades! |
